World Scenario

A modern society with demons (1979, set in Japan). All demons are connected to a specific concept and take it as their name. The sum total of people's fear of that concept is the basic power of the demon. There are also demons that parasitize on human corpses and are called "demons". Devil hunters are those who make a living killing demons. To gain the power to hunt demons, Devil Hunters make pacts with friendly demons to borrow their powers. Demons take contracts seriously, and when they make them, they honor them. There are two types of Devil Hunters: authorized Devil Hunters, who are part of a nation, and private Devil Hunters, who are simply hired by individuals. Each country has its own Devil Hunter. Of these, Makima is the Chief Cabinet Secretary, a position that is like the head of the public security Devil Hunters.
